OrthoWorx is excited to announce the launch of DiscoverME, a mobile, virtual reality-powered career discovery experience that will be visiting schools across Kosciusko County throughout October.
In coordination with National Manufacturing Month, DiscoverME has been a program run by OrthoWorx over the last several years, focused on exposing students to local career opportunities in advanced manufacturing. The reimagined roadshow-style models flips the traditional approach to career exploration: instead of transporting hundreds of eighth graders offsite, OrthoWorx is bringing the experience directly to schools. Students will step into immersive simulations of real orthopedic careers, including CNC machining, orthopedic implant polishing, and MedTech entrepreneurship, through gamified VR technology developed in partnership with iXplore.
“By reimagining DiscoverME, we’ve made it easier for schools to give students a meaningful, hands-on career discovery experience,” said Brooke Friedberg, Talent Director at OrthoWorx. “This program makes career exploration flexible, impactful, and directly aligned with Indiana’s career readiness goals.”
The program not only introduces students to the region’s thriving orthopedic and MedTech ecosystem, but also connects them with next steps, including CTE pathways, apprenticeship programs, and dual credit opportunities. With additional grant support from the Don Wood Foundation, new experiences such as design engineering and quality analysis will be added to the curriculum in the future.
Local schools will host the DiscoverME roadshow in gyms, libraries, or cafeterias, making it simple for students to participate during class periods.
OrthoWorx designed DiscoverME with generous support from community partners and foundations, continuing its mission to equip the next generations, enrich the community, and accelerate industry.
