Michael Giordano, Ph.D. is a mission-driven engineering leader with over 13 years of experience in the development and commercialization of pediatric-focused medical devices. With deep expertise in FDA, EU MDR, and ISO 13485 regulatory environments, he has a proven track record of building high-performing teams and implementing scalable processes that enhance efficiency, customer satisfaction, and patient safety.
Currently serving as Senior Engineering Director at OrthoPediatrics, Michael leads the Post-Market Engineering group, where he has introduced a business metric-driven prioritization framework and driven key product improvements under tight commercial timelines. His leadership has revitalized supplier relationships and accelerated regulatory compliance efforts, including the completion of 128 gap analyses ahead of schedule.
Previously, he directed trauma and deformity correction groups, launching innovative orthopedic solutions and streamlining risk management and changing control processes. Earlier in his career at Zimmer Biomet, he lead the development of complex bone fixation systems and mentored engineering interns.
Michael holds a Ph.D., and B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Notre Dame. He is a named inventor on 6+ U.S. patents and co-author of multiple peer-reviewed publications on material wear and medical device innovation. A lifelong learner and leader, he has completed leadership training at West Point and Battlefield Leadership programs and was selected for OrthoPediatrics’ inaugural “OP Top 10” leadership group.
