Think Ortho Pathways, formerly known as Manufacturing Experiences, programs are talent development introducing modern manufacturing and promoting career opportunities within local manufacturing companies. The programming offers community-responsive curriculum and introduces manufacturing at a pivotal time when students begin thinking about high school coursework and their career interests.
Value of Think Ortho Pathways
Manufacturing is a central part of Kosciusko County’s economic landscape with industries connected to agribusiness, automotive, boat product, and orthopedics. Additionally, the majority of employment opportunities in the are directly linked to orthopedics as every 10 jobs in orthopedics generates an additional nine jobs elsewhere in Kosciusko County. By partnering with local manufacturing companies in Kosciusko County, we showcase next generation manufacturing – an innovative, technology-driven industry that offers secure, well-paying jobs and excellent benefits with the opportunity for further education and advancement.
8th Grade Programming
Addresses the need for skilled labor and uncovers misconceptions students and the community may have about local manufacturing opportunities. This program takes place annually during the week leading to Manufacturing Day (the first Friday of October) and allows students to explore and learn about manufacturing through in-class curriculum and tours. The week-long program includes daily classroom instruction, school assemblies and a day-long field trip, where students will learn about the manufacturing industry as well as educational pathways available to them.
