Warsaw, Ind., November 30, 2011 – OrthoWorx today announced it has named Tim Meyer as Individual Partner of the Year for 2011 for his leadership role with the OrthoWorx Advanced Manufacturing Committee. The committee is a subgroup of the Talent & Workforce Development Initiative and is comprised of key leaders from the orthopedic industry (including original equipment manufacturers, or OEMs, and suppliers), Ivy Tech Community College representatives and OrthoWorx team members. The award was presented to Meyer at the OrthoWorx annual meeting, held November 30, 2011.

The Advanced Manufacturing Committee has made substantial progress this past year, focusing on providing workforce development options aligned with the needs of Warsaw and the region. “Tim has been an incredibly valuable partner in aligning industry needs from orthopedic company representatives and working with Ivy Tech to translate that information into a new certificate program in orthopedic advanced manufacturing,” said David Floyd, OrthoWorx Chief Executive Officer.

The Advanced Manufacturing Committee members were recognized earlier this month at a dinner in their honor. This award recognizes Meyer’s leadership of the group in accomplishing the following milestones: •

  • Evaluation of Ivy Tech advanced manufacturing curriculum offerings;
  • Identifying and recognizing gaps in talent and workforce available and helping to address them through revised curriculum;
  • Definition and development of Orthopedic Quality Standards and Technical Skills Certificate requirements through the Ivy Tech Orthopedic and Advanced Manufacturing Training Center;
  • Adoption of National Institute for Metalworking Skills (NIMS) Certification as industry standard among Warsaw-area orthopedic companies.

“Tim would likely be the first to tell you that this was a true team effort and that there were great contributions from both industry and Ivy Tech personnel,” said Tammy Allen, OrthoWorx Manager, Communications and Projects. “We are grateful Ivy Tech put Tim into this position of leadership and for how he has skillfully guided the group toward great progress. Their collective efforts are creating improved career opportunities and better qualified employees for the orthopedic industry.”

This is the inaugural year for OrthoWorx Partner of the Year Awards, which are presented to both an organization and an individual for significant contributions toward the educational, scientific and civic initiatives undertaken by OrthoWorx.
