Life sciences and healthcare heavyweights from Indiana and beyond will be in Indianapolis on October 21 and 22, as BioCrossroads celebrates its tenth year of presenting the Indiana Life Sciences Summit.

This year’s highlight includes a presentation by Former Commissioner of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration Mark McClellan, M.D., Ph.D., who will deliver the morning keynote speech on the politics of innovation in healthcare. He joins leaders from Biomet, Cook Medical, Dow AgroSciences, Eli Lilly and Company, Indiana University, Purdue University, Roche Diagnostics, and WellPoint, among others, who are also speaking at the conference. Topics include a discussion of the new Indiana Biosciences Research Institute and an examination of the current venture capital market.

“This is BioCrossroads’ signature event of the year, and we’re fortunate to have nationally-renowned speakers offering their perspectives on how to continue to bring innovation to life and how to keep Indiana in its rightful place as a U.S. life sciences leader,” said Lori LeRoy, Vice President of Communications, BioCrossroads.

The Summit will be at the JW Marriott, downtown Indianapolis on Oct. 22. A networking reception hosted by Eli Lilly and Company and Cook Medical is on Monday, Oct. 21, when winners of the New Venture Competition, a business plan competition for promising life sciences and health IT start ups, will be announced. Last year’s winner, Diagnotes, has already secured more than $1 million in funding since earning the top prize.
