This year promises to be an exciting one for OrthoWorx Diversity Council.

The council, a subgroup of the OrthoWorx Community Enhancement Initiative, was developed to address the need to cultivate diversity for community enrichment.
Comprised of more than 20 volunteers from the orthopedic industry, Grace College, IPFW, small business owners, consultants and OrthoWorx, the council has met regularly since June 2011. It has defined diversity needs in the community, formed objectives and identified plans for 2012. Those plans include participation in Warsaw Community Development Corporation (WCDC) First Friday Events and Sacred Heart School culture fair.

“I am very excited about OrthoWorx Diversity Council’s participation in the First Friday Events. I cannot think of a better way to increase awareness of the rich cultures that are becoming part of the Warsaw community,” states Marlene Mulero-Betances, Diversity Council member and Co-lead, Diversity Council First Friday Action Team. The action team is working closely with the WCDC First Friday Committee for the April, September and October events.

In addition, OrthoWorx Diversity Council members will serve in various capacities at the Sacred Heart School 2nd Annual Culture Fair on Friday, April 27. Jim Faroh, Sr., Principal, Sacred Heart School, shared at a Diversity Council Meeting about the school’s culture fair and how it is such an engaging experience. “Culture is about sharing our lives with one another. People are honored to share their culture with you. Our culture fair serves to teach students the positive value of diversity,” states Faroh. This year’s culture fair will feature 13 countries and is open to the public.
