OrthoWorx Board of Directors Adds Two Members from DePuy Synthes

WARSAW, Ind., February 11, 2016—

The Board of Directors of OrthoWorx yesterday elected Paul Voorhorst, Vice President, Worldwide Clinical Research, and Ray Gonzalez, Plant Manager, new board members representing DePuy Synthes Companies, a founding board company.

“We would like to thank Andrew Ekdahl for his service to the board over the past three years.  As Andrew steps down, we are delighted to welcome Paul and Ray to the board and with this expression of commitment from DePuy Synthes,” said Sheryl L. Conley, President and CEO of OrthoWorx.  “Both Paul and Ray have been involved with OrthoWorx as council members and we have greatly appreciated their insights and contributions to our initiatives.  Now we look forward to their counsel regarding the strategic direction and functions of the organization.”

According to OrthoWorx Board Chairman, Tobias Buck, Chairman, President and CEO of Paragon Medical, “Given the worldwide responsibllities of many executives from OrthoWorx member companies, the board agreed that having two representatives would foster greater continuity and meaningful interaction.”

Mr. Voorhorst joined DePuy in 1989 and is currently a Vice President of Clinical Research.  His team is responsible for developing and executing the global clinical strategy and management of the clinical studies portfolio for the company’s joint reconstruction, sports medicine and power tools businesses. He has also taught a course on acquiring and managing clinical data for the OrthoWorx Center of Excellence Orthopedic Regulatory and Clinical Affairs program at Grace College. He earned a B.A. degree in Mathematics from Hope College, a M.S. degree in Biostatistics from Western Michigan University, and a M.B.A. degree from the State University of New York at Albany.

Mr. Gonzalez began his career with Johnson & Johnson in 1996 and joined DePuy Synthes in Warsaw in 2013.  Ray is currently the Warsaw Plant Manager.  He and his team are responsible for all manufacturing operations as well as delivering on all critical business goals within the DePuy Synthes Supply Chain organization.  Prior to his role in Warsaw, Ray held leadership positions for Ethicon in Somerville, New Jersey; Juarez, Mexico; San Lorenzo, Puerto Rico; and San Angelo, Texas.  He holds a B.S. in Industrial Engineering from Texas A&M University.
