Zimmer executive Brad Bishop to join Warsaw-based industry, community and education initiative

Warsaw, IN, June 3, 2010 – OrthoWorx, Warsaw, Indiana’s industry, community, and education initiative established to advance and support growth and innovation within the region’s uniquely concentrated, globally significant orthopedics device sector, announces its first move to shape the organization’s leadership team with the appointment of an Executive Director.

Brad Bishop will join OrthoWorx on June 23, bringing with him over 20-years of orthopedic industry experience. Most recently, Brad has served as Director of Public Affairs at Zimmer, Inc., where he was responsible for internal and external communications, corporate philanthropy, community affairs and state and local government relations, and served as Treasurer of the Zimmer Political Action Committee.

He joined Zimmer in 1988 and has served in a variety of public affairs and communications roles for Zimmer and for its former parent company, Bristol-Myers Squibb.

“Brad has been an integral part of the Warsaw community for more than twenty years. His background in the orthopedics industry and his leadership roles on community initiatives provide a solid foundation for his new position with OrthoWorx,” said David Floyd, OrthoWorx board member and President of DePuy Orthopaedics.

“OrthoWorx has a strong Board of Directors whose members are actively engaged in moving our specific initiatives forward. The Talent and Workforce Development, Community Development, Transportation and Logistics, Education, and Innovation Committees have begun the process of developing their strategic plans, and having Brad as a full-time employee of OrthoWorx will help drive all of the initiatives forward,” added Cheryl Blanchard, Ph.D. Chairperson of the OrthoWorx Board of Directors and Senior Vice President and Chief Scientific Officer of Zimmer.

In addition to his industry experience, Brad has served on a number of association and civic boards, including the Indiana Health Industry Forum, Kosciusko Development, Inc., the YMCA of Kosciusko County, the Kosciusko County Convention and Visitors Bureau, the Orthopedic Capital Foundation and the Kosciusko County Community Foundation, where he is the current board president. He is a past president of the board of directors of the United Way of Kosciusko County and a graduate of Ball State University.

“As our industry and community continue to evolve and new opportunities and challenges arise, we must have an organized, cohesive strategy to solidify our standing as the Orthopedics Capital of the World for decades to come,” said Bishop. “The OrthoWorx initiative provides an unprecedented opportunity for Warsaw’s orthopedic industry and community leadership to stand-up, promote and leverage our many strengths while identifying and addressing our unique challenges.”
