Indiana rates the sixth best place to do business in the nation, according to Chief Executive magazine’s Best/Worst States for Business annual survey.
The state ascended from 16th place in 2010 to sixth place this year. This gives “Hoosiers the third-biggest advance in the rankings in a single year,” as stated by ChiefExecutive.net. Indiana also ranked 11th best place to do business in 2009.
Key criteria used to rate each state included taxation and regulations, workforce quality and quality of life. Additional factors considered also included “intangible factors such as a state’s overall attitude toward business and the work ethic of its population,” according to Chief Executive magazine.
According to George Robertson, President, Kosciusko Economic Development Corporation, these are invaluable attributes to Indiana and Warsaw in particular. “The strengths of Kosciusko County and this region are the very reason we are the Orthopedics Capital of the World. First is innovation, with creative people, who constantly search for new and better ways to do things. Second is an entrepreneurial spirit that creates and grows companies. Third is a highly skilled workforce that turns those ideas and businesses into high-quality products that the marketplace demands,” emphasizes Robertson.
Indiana is the only Midwestern state on the top ten list of Best Places to Do Business in the Nation.
