The new Medical Device Quality Management (MDQM) Program was developed to address the growing need for quality management professionals in the region.
The program was created for those currently employed in or wishing to enter the medical device or related industries.
Based on OrthoWorx commissioned research, the MDQM Program launched January 2014 and focuses on the critical elements of quality management: quality systems, post-market surveillance, design control and assurance, manufacturing quality and supply chain management, and statistical processes to ensure excellence throughout the medical device life cycle. The program builds on the success of the OrthoWorx Center of Excellence at Grace College.
Students currently enrolled in the MDQM Certificate Program are projected to complete the program July 2014. The five courses in the new MDQM Program can be applied to a bachelor’s degree, or master’s degree, depending on the student’s academic background and educational goals. The courses may also be taken independently, not tied to a certificate or degreed program.
“For our region to remain the Orthopedic Capital of the World,® we must equip our workforce with skills needed to meet requirements of ever expanding needs in critical fields in the medical device industry,” stated OrthoWorx CEO Sheryl Conley. Over 40 percent of Kosciusko County (Indiana) workforce makes a living directly or indirectly from the orthopedic industry.
“We want the Warsaw region to be the best place in the world to acquire the skills and knowledge required for these important quality positions. This new program at Grace College contributes to that goal. It’s important that all of our education systems are aligned to generate a healthy pipeline of talent,” stated Conley.
Dean of the School of Adult and Community Education at Grace College Steve Grill, PhD, is enthusiastic about expanding the college’s industry-based educational program through the new MDQM Program. “Grace College is pleased to partner again with OrthoWorx on this initiative. We are continuing to make significant contributions to the vitality of our region by equipping students with the capabilities needed for success in the medical device industry.”
