AcceLINX Musculoskeletal Health Business Accelerator Launches Website

WARSAW, Ind., 3.8.17 – OrthoWorx today announced that AcceLINX™, its initiative to foster the success of selected innovative enterprises by leveraging the unique assets of the northern Indiana orthopedic medical device industry cluster, has launched a website (www.accelinx.com) to provide information for and as a platform to engage with entrepreneurs and start-ups in the musculoskeletal health space.

“We’re delighted to launch this visible symbol of AcceLINX progress and to begin to more formally engage with innovative entrepreneurs in musculoskeletal health,” said Sheryl Conley, President and CEO of OrthoWorx and Board Member of AcceLINX. “One sign of great interest in the AcceLINX model is that we’ve already had preliminary conversations with more than 20 start-ups and entrepreneurs who are interested in engaging with AcceLINX, either as a funded, supported portfolio company or as a fee-for-service client.”

The new website, AcceLINX.com, provides a wealth of information about the unique accelerator concept, the resources that can be provided to entrepreneurs and about the AcceLINX team’s deep industry expertise and broad network that can be deployed in support of selected innovators. The site also provides a mechanism for start-ups to apply for formal engagement with AcceLINX.

Still in development is a capability to provide select start-ups with access to sources of capital affiliated with AcceLINX.  “We are currently working with a dedicated team of successful musculoskeletal health industry executives and investment professionals to provide qualified start-ups with access to needed capital to fund growth,” Conley said.

AcceLINX is currently housed in OrthoWorx offices in Warsaw, Indiana, although a dedicated physical space may be developed or identified in the future depending on the needs of the start-ups that engage with AcceLINX.

“We greatly appreciate the support of the partners who have enabled us to make great progress in establishing AcceLINX—the Indiana Economic Development Corporation, Kosciusko and Allen Counties, and the cities of Warsaw and Fort Wayne,” said Ms. Conley.

The orthopedic medical device industry cluster in Indiana began in 1895.  Today, firms in the cluster account for direct employment of approximately 7,700 in Kosciusko County, and total employment in the region is approximately 10,000, largely concentrated in the “orthopedic corridor” from Kosciusko County to Allen County. More than 60 individual firms make up the region’s orthopedic industry cluster, ranging from large, publicly traded OEMs to a wide variety of design, manufacturing, testing, material supply and consulting firms. A 2009 study that led to the formation of OrthoWorx described the cluster as the most concentrated center of orthopedic medical device activity in the world.

AcceLINX also invites suppliers and consultants to the musculoskeletal health industry to contact them to learn more about becoming part of their preferred network.
