MyWarsaw.Net Launched as Central Hub of Information about Life in Warsaw Region

Community contributors help paint picture of life, work, fun

Warsaw, Ind., July 9, 2012 – Need to map out your recreational activities for the summer in Kosciusko County? Curious about the affordability of living in the Warsaw area or about where to find the best sushi or sunset? Why not get this information from the experts – those who live, work and play here? There is now one website that provides those answers and more: MyWarsaw.Net.

Today OrthoWorx launched MyWarsaw.Net, a central clearinghouse of information about Warsaw and the surrounding communities, during the MyWarsawSM launch event. OrthoWorx partnered with area community leaders and volunteers to develop the website and will collaborate with them to regularly update the site with information about all Warsaw has to offer.

The website is one of several community enrichment initiatives recommended in an OrthoWorx-sponsored community attributes study by the Ball State University Building Better Communities group. The report identified the need for a community web portal that improves awareness and visibility of the many quality-of-life assets in the Warsaw area. The MyWarsaw.Net website serves as that resource.

“OrthoWorx is committed to leading and partnering on projects that enhance the community. This website serves as a tool to strengthen efforts around employee recruitment and retention and to support the overall quality of life in Warsaw,” said Brad Bishop, OrthoWorx executive director. “There are so many great things about living and working in Warsaw, and this website is the perfect way for the community to band together to tell that story.”

Quality-of-life information includes a cost-of-living calculator, details about area schools, employers, recreation, service organizations and government agencies. In addition, a full schedule of events and festivals can be found on the website as well as links to the area’s arts, food and entertainment. Updated information also can be found on supporting social media platforms, including Facebook and Twitter.

“Response and interest from community and regional contributors have been overwhelmingly positive,” said Tammy Allen, manager, communications and projects for OrthoWorx. “Their enthusiasm and input to MyWarsaw.Net contribute to the successful launch and future success of the website as a community resource for information.”

“Our goal is to keep the website fresh with photographs of local residents and employees and also current details about the benefits of living in Warsaw,” Allen added. “We appreciate the individuals and organizations dedicated to helping us make this website a true reflection of life in Warsaw.”

As an example, a compelling picture of life in Warsaw is painted through photography featuring local people enjoying life and work in the community. MyWarsaw.Net features the talent of area photographers, Al Disbro, Gary Nieter and Jeffrey Nycz, as well as local employers and organizations.

“This community is both high-tech and people-oriented,” said Nycz, who has found the area perfect for photographing everything from sports, to high-tech industry to students and families. He has spent the last decade capturing life in Warsaw through the camera lens. “The sunset here rivals any sunset in the world.”

Disbro agrees. A photographer and resident of the Warsaw area for nearly 50 years, he has captured on film both the historical and present day region in more than 1 million photographs. MyWarsaw.Net features a sampling of those.

“This is such a great community with so many different things to do,” added Mallory Hepler, managing director, The Village at Winona. “In Winona Lake itself, we have lakes, bike trails, more than 20 shops and a deep sense of history that has been preserved for all to enjoy. We love to get the word out, and this website is a great way to help us do that.”
